B Sc (Hons) Mathematics

Duration: 3 Years (Semester System)            
This programme endeavors to instill in students with a genuine interest in their subject area by fostering a creative spirit to help them explore their potential and to become creative mathematicians. It incorporates advanced level courses in Mathematics and general courses in Physics/Chemistry/Computer Science.  Students can concentrate on specific areas of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics or select from a wider range of other courses.

B Sc (Hons) Mathematics aims at developing a respectable intellectual level in the field of mathematics. It is committed to enhance student’s reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills. The programme is highly promising as it enables the graduates to work and communicate effectively in inter-disciplinary environments. The graduates will be qualified as well as prepared for civil services exams after the successful completion of the programme.

Eligibility: Pass with 55% aggregate in 10+2 (Non-Medical) and rank in DAVUET (If applicable).

Relaxation of 5% marks in minimum aggregate score for admission to a candidate belonging to SC/ST


M.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics

Duration: 2 Years (Semester System)                            

This programme provides the students a sound general knowledge of advanced mathematics through study in several pure and applied areas of the subject. It includes topics in theoretical mathematics and its applications to equip students to pursue research in Mathematics or to take up careers in teaching mathematics or to go into related fields in the industry. Students are given the option to choose elective and interdisciplinary subjects in the third and fourth semesters. In the final semester project work is assigned to the students as a part of the curriculum.

This programme aims to provide advanced training in mathematics. It emphasizes the relevance and usefulness of mathematics from an application point of view. It exposes the learner to real life problems. It makes the student appreciate the uniqueness of mathematics, having the power of generalization and the power of application. It develops ability in students to formulate a problem using the language of mathematics.


Eligibility: Pass, 50% aggregate marks in Bachelors degree (any discipline) or equivalent (with Mathematics as a subject).
